This year was an amazing one and as it is soon about to pass, let’s look back to what was the hottest trend. We’ve seen it on the runways, editorials, on the street style and, of course, everyday wear. I could say that 2018 was the year of tartan.

The twilled woolen fabric with tartan design became one of the most popular patterns in modern fashion.  It was via designers such as John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, and Vivienne Westwood that tartan became a mainstay on the catwalk.

Tartan is such a movement that even Victoria’s Secret chose to use it for the 2018 show. As their show is held at the end of each year, they are always selecting key trends, that have been super modern by that time.

Variations of the tartan pattern are a familiar sight in fashion. My personal favorite is the red, navy and black plaid. Loving my beautiful high waist skirt from Zara and the royal red color it comes in.

The pleated skirt is a modern day wardrobe hero. Could be rocked so many ways, but I love how it looks with high knee boots. They are also one of my favorite pieces for the colder weather. Chose to combine the red tartan skirt with those black boots and a reminiscent blouse with high funnel collar.

The dominance of the tartan army shows how versatile the look has become. If you are looking for a contemporary vibe, I definitely recommend you tartan. The print expresses its beauty on typically winter pieces, so there is no better time to embrace it! ♥

This is just one example of a tartan. Many families in Scotland have their own special pattern.
